Bon Bini (Welcome) to Curacao!

-------------------------------------------------

DEFINITION

Curaçao is an island in the southern Caribbean Sea, off the Venezuelan coast. The Country of Curaçao includes the main island plus the small, uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao ("Little Curaçao"), is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Its capital is Willemstad.

Curaçao is the largest and most populous of the three ABC islands ( Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao) of the Lesser Antilles, specifically the Leeward Antilles. It has a land area of 444 square kilometres (171 square miles). Population: 141,766 in the year of 2009.

For those people who love tanning, Sea & Summer activities, nightlife and partying, then Curacao is the right place for you!

Curaçao’s ethnic inhabitants - the Arawak, Dutch, Spanish, West Indian, Latin, and African - have created a rich heritage and thriving culture. Curaçao’s culture embraces many languages.

Although Dutch is the Curacao official language, and English and Spanish are also widely spoken, many residents speak Papiamentu — a Creole mixture of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, French, English, and Arawak Indian.

WHERE TO STAY?

There are a lot of different places to stay such as Large Hotels, Small Hotels, Bungalows, Apartments, Luxury Villas and Guesthouses

They have nearly 15 museums including:

Curaçao Museum In this spacious museum the geological history of Curacao is displayed, as well as pre-Colombian Indian artifacts, beliefs and mode of living, a traditional plantation kitchen; antique mahogany furniture (18th and 19th century) and paintings by local and international artist.

Den Paradera refers to Paraguiri Indians who long ago had the biggest herb garden for healing people at the east side of the island. When the Spaniards came, they brought their slaves to the Paraguiri Indians to be cured and called the location " En Paradera". Later the local people changed this name into "Den Paradera" which means "the place where you feel at home" Tourists can enjoy a walking trail trough the garden.

Kura Hulanda Museum This museum impressively exhibits the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade in its totality, from slave capture in Africa through the Middle Passage and the relocation in the New World. OFF to SPACE!

  11. June 2011 10:14 Adventure

Imagine that you write this on your BBM's status:

   "OFF to SPACE!"

    That would really be AWSOME!

BUT it could be true! because our adventure post for this week is a no ordinary POST! because we'll be taking you to SPACE BABY!

Have you ever thought of having a trip for 30 minutes and watching the unbelievable view of the Earth from the space? Do you really want to float like astronauts and enjoy the feeling of being weightless? Maybe the price is a bit costly BUT YOUR EXPERIENCE IS WORTH EVERY PENNY!

ZERO G Corporation (Zero Gravity) makes your dreams come true!

If you are planning to travel to Las Vegas or DC this summer, try to save 4950$, then you should pay them a visit book for your SPACE TRIP!

What does the 4950$ include?

It includes your own ZERO-G flight suit, ZERO-G merchandise, a regravitation celebration, certificate of weightless completion, photos and video of your unique experience.

How does it work?

Check-In: Once you arrive at ZERO-G, you will check-in with your government issued picture identification (Passport). After that the whole group will be introduced to the G ZERO team to give you a brief introduction about the trip. Then they will take you to the Orientation Room, where you will have a light breakfast.

Pre-flight Orientation: While you are enjoying your light breakfast, you will be watching a video showing you how fun the trip will be and what experience you will face!. After the video, the ZERO G staff will be dividing the group of participants into three different teams. There will be Gold, Silver, and Blue.

Security:The next step is the security checking point. All of the pilots, coaches, and the flyers will go through the security screening process, which is like any process at any airport. Please note that carry-on items are limited and must only fit in to your pocket.

Transportation: Once screening is completed, all flyers will proceed to the aircraft. Transportation to G-FORCE ONE will differ depending on the location of the flight.

Travel to Fly Zone: Before boarding, a group picture will be taken in front of G-FORCE ONE. Once everyone is seated, a brief on-board safety demonstration will be given by the Flight Attendants before takeoff. It is like any regulation at any airlines. Depending on the approved airspace, it will take about 30 minutes to reach appropriate altitude.

The ZERO-G Experience: Once the okay is given to unbuckle, all flyers will head to the Gold, Silver or Blue Floating Zone. You are now minutes away from becoming weightless. 12-15 parabolas are flown for an approximate weightless time of eight minutes.

Regravitation Celebration: After your weightless experience you and your fellow flyers will enjoy the Regravitation Celebration where the pre-flight photos and certificates are handed out and refreshments are provided.

and here are their locations in the States:

  • Las Vegas, NV – McCarran International Airport (LAS)
  • Washington, DC - Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Mpumalanga: South Africa

  4. June 2011 05:45 Adventure

Meeng-gah-bou Everyone!

"Tsamina mina eh eh, Waka Waka eh eh"

"Tsamina mina zangalewa, Anawa aa"

"This time for Africa!"

Today's Adventure Post is all about Mpumalanga, South Africa!

As Said "Mpumalanga is one of South Africa's top tourist destinations". It is known as "Paradise Country". Mpumalanga covers nearly 80 000 km² from rolling highlands to the lofty cliffs and the extensive wetlands.

The Mpumalanga Tourism Authority has created seven regions. I will not be talking about the seven regions today, but i'll be concentrating more on Mpumalanga's attractions and destinations! The roads in South Africa are among the best in Africa which makes it a good place to rent a car and do some independent sightseeing. It is normal to tip in South Africa, so keep your small change handy.

 _______________________________________________________

1) Echo Caves

These mysterious caves were discovered in the 1920's by the owner of the farm after his cattle mysteriously disappeared on the farm, he started looking for answers, and that is when he discovered the Echo Caves.

The caves extend 40 KM and if you shout your name once! you can here it over and over again till you get sick and never wanna here your name again, you will be so pissed off that you might consider changing it when you go back home!

2) Blyde River Canyon

The river extends along the BLYDE RIVER CANYON'S winding path, which at every turn offers more and more impressive views over sheer edges dropping 800m into the riverbed.

The plant life is influenced by extreme climate. Not only that but you would want to look at the masses of waterfalls! You will really enjoy the weather and some peaceful and relaxing time!

3) Kruger National Park

It is the largest game reserve in South Africa, it is nearly 20 000 square kilometres, given over to an almost indescribable wildlife experience. Certainly it ranks with the best in Africa and is rated as the ultimate safari experience.

It is a wildlife sanctuary like no other! This is the land of baobabs, fever trees, knob thorns, marula and mopane trees. The Kruger Park is a self-drive destination, although there are guided tour operators!

4) Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Now that is FUN FUN FUN!!! It is the most exclusive private game reserve in South Africa. The 65,000-hectare Sabi Sands Game Reserve has no restricting fences between the Kruger Park and Sabi Sands Reserve and the wildlife roams freely between them both! HAHA!!! how exciting is it!?

P.S: The Wildlife Safari journey cannot be completed without exposure to every facet of wildlife in the bush. So basically you will be dancing with the..."wait for it"...."wait for it!" WILD ANIMALS, Lions and Leopards instead of the wolves!

5) God's Window

They say "Just one look down and you will begin to understand why it is called "God's Window".  With magnificent views, canyons, rock formations and waterfalls, God's Window is truly a breathtaking place.

For the best lookout points and exotic forest plants, try to stay away from the crowds and hike up into the clouds and the misty Rain Forest. Make sure you take a few refreshments along as it is very humid and an extremely steep and strenuous walk, but it is definitely worth it!

[BLender Whisper]: Hope you had fun in Africa!

[BLENDER WHISPER]: I FINALLY DECIDED WHERE TO GO FOR MY SUMMER VACATION! W.E.M!, HERE I COME!

Posted by PhahadAli

Earlier I posted about the Spring break vacation and I recommended you guys to visit Washington DC, but after my recent trip to Austria, I REALLY recommend you to try it BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME!!

Why awesome? Because the preparation and the celebration for Easter events are amazing.  Life is very colorful during Easter time there. You will see lots of flowers everywhere, and the weather is really nice.

During the day the temp is about 20’s and in the night it gets a bit cold so you need to cover up yourself. Overall, Austria is a very peaceful and quite country whether you are staying in Vienna

or in Graz, which is about two hours by the train from the capital Vienna.

It is a well known fact in Europe that Austria is considered as the most sought tourist destinations due to the amazing historic cities, famous musical heritage, and of course the amazing traditional food and sweets they serve.

This country has been inspired by many cultures. At the early history, it was colonized by the Turk people. You will see many Turkish People living there since that time and also in some places you will feel yourself as you are in one of Turkey’s cities.

After that the Turkish was retreated by the French that’s why some of their food is inspired by the French Cuisine. Finally, Austria was totally colonized by the German under Hitler’s rule. Later on Dutch became the mainly language in Austria.

There is an interesting place called Seegrotte.

It is a huge cave where Hitler’s armies used to hide from their enemies. Also it was a secret place for building their military aircrafts during the WWII.

In general Austria is a multi cultural country. It was inspired by many different cultures and nations. That’s why people there are very friendly and open to communicate with any nationality.

If you got lost and can’t reach a specific address, all you have to do is just stop anyone in the street, and he/she will help you with a big smile. They let you feel as you are home because of the amazing treatment they give for their tourists.

The most interesting places you have to see in Vienna:

Stephansdom Church: it is located in the middle of the downtown and it’s surrounded by amazing café shops and very delicious restaurants.

Also, there are lots of shops like souvenir shops, clothing shops, and CHOCOLATE SHOPS!

YES! It is one kind of their well known chocolate!

Don’t forget to pass by the most famous chocolate shop “Mozart” yes Mozart the famous musician!

Opera House: It is close to Stephansdom Church. You will enjoy listening to the most famous music performed by famous Austrian musicians. The atmosphere is very nice and so warm.

If you were not able to get a ticket, you still can enjoy watching the performance and the dancers from the huge screens which are set in front on the building.

Natural Museum and فن  “ART Museum”: These two museums are located along street “Schottenring Street 11” it is just about a couple of walks from the downtown, where Stephansdom Church located.

Next to the two Museums there is a nice park where you can relax and enjoy the natural view of the green color.

The Austrian Parliament: it is about a couple of walks after the two museums I mentioned above. The architecture of this building is made of huge bricks of stones and gold in some parts. It really grabs people’s attention once they pass by it.

Schonbrunn Palace: At the square of the palace, there are shops forming a circle all around the huge palace. They sell different items like traditional handmade food and chocolate, candles, crafts items, and art work like paints.

Austria is the right place to get yourself relaxed and pampered. It is the most suitable country for lovers and newly couples
